Aegir - one Drupal to rule them all!

Day:  Thursday, 26. august 2010
Time:  13:30-14:30
45 minutes (+15 minutes Q&A)

Aegir is a distributed provisioning system for Drupal that allows you to manage thousands of sites across as many concurrent instances of Drupal on as many servers as you need. It's built on Drupal itself, so that your user interface to the system becomes a 'meta-drupal' site, with nodes representing all of your hosted sites and all of the components of your hosting environment.

Whether you are new to Aegir (or Drupal!) or an experienced developer, you will get a very good idea of where we are in the development of this project and the latest new features we are giving to the community.

Since the last DrupalCon, we have implemented multi-server and DNS support, a huge leap forward in our roadmap. We have also made improvements to the workflow processes related to migrating sites between Development, Staging and Production environments.

  • installing the aegir hosting system - easy!
  • spawning instances of OpenAtrium - easy!
  • cloning, upgrading and maintaing sites - easy!
  • the unsolved problem of staging workflow in Drupal - easier!
  • the aegir roadmap - where we go next

For more information on Aegir, check out the Aegir user group and keep up to date with the Aegir posts on

In Norse mythology, Aegir was the god of the oceans and if a Drupal site is a drop of water, Aegir is the deity of large bodies of water.

Just curious, slides don't

26. August 2010 - 15:17

Just curious, slides don't seem to be getting posted on this site, after presentations, after they have been in past Cons. Will this be so for this Con?

i think a trick was missed

7. September 2010 - 16:41

i think a trick was missed with the design of the cph2010 site re videos of the talks post-event, or maybe this will be implemented in the future. a number are available on now, not the aegir talk as of yet, though a comment on the developmentseed site notes it should be up shortly.
