Jacob Singh (Drupal core developer, Acquia DrupalGardens engineer and Media module maintainer) will be showing off some of the new media file management functionalities in Drupal 7 core and contrib.
This session is geared toward site builders and developers, but most of it will be non-technical and appropriate for business leaders trying to grasp the possibilities. We'll be looking at:
- Image and file fields in core, how they are used
- How to add meta-data using the Media module to files. This means captions on images, genres (tags) on mp3s, etc
- The Media module browser - allows you to pick existing files and manage the files on your system
- WYSIWYG integration - embedding media files directly in any text area on your site
- 3rd party integration w/ Flickr, YouTube, etc. How to add flickr and youtube images to your media library and then embed them on your site
- The future: HTML 5 drag and drop uploads, video, audio, etc
There will be a lengthy Q&A and brainstorming period as well to discuss where we should go next and to talk about collaborations.
