This session will cover how Drupal can be used by activists, community organizers and other small teams of people (in any setting) to manage projects effectively. I'd love to discuss this with everyone interested in activism, project management and Drupal.

  • What the Drupal community can do to facilitate better project management tools for activists
  • When CiviCRM, Open Atrium and Activism Labs are each most suitable for a site

Aegir

Dave Hall 14 August 2010
Type:  BOF session

Discuss what is happening with Aegir, how you are using it and learn about what others are doing.

There is a lot happening with Aegir these days.

The BoF will provide an excellent opportunity for users and developers to get together and talk about the project. What are the long terms plans are for Aegir? How are you using Aegir? How are others using it? What can we learn from each other? The questions along with others will be raised and (hopefully) answered during the session.

Come along an influence the how we build Skynet using Drupal!

Drupal for NGOs and not-for-profits

J-P Stacey 13 August 2010
Type:  BOF session

If you work for or with an NGO, charity or other not-for-profit, and they're using Drupal: you should be at this BOF session.

Many organisations in the not-for-profit sector are adopting Drupal as their CMS of choice. Longstanding users in the UK include Amnesty International and Greenpeace UK. So big is the NGO/Drupal space in the UK, that there's a dedicated meetup group on drupal.org.uk for people interested in it.

  • Lightning talks – open mic

    Anonymous 11 August 2010
    Type:  Session in official program

This session is reserved for short 5-minute lightning talks. If you want to give a talk or present your cool Drupal project, please register for a speaker slot at the registration desk in the lobby. To make this session run as smooth as possible, you won't be able to use your own laptop (to cut down on the time used to get from one speaker to the next). Bring your presentation on a USB stick or structure it in such a way that you only need a webbrowser to support your talk.

    DrupalCRM: a native Drupal-based CRM

    Chris Cohen 11 August 2010
    Type:  BOF session

Up until now, CRMs have been accessible through API modules, or partially integrated such as CiviCRM. Creating a Drupal CRM will be no easy task, so we're gathering to discuss how to proceed with this mammoth undertaking.

Please note this session has been moved from the earlier time of 10:00-10:50.

Up until now, CRMs have been accessible through API modules, or partially integrated such as CiviCRM. Creating a Drupal CRM will be no easy task, so we're gathering to discuss how to proceed with this mammoth undertaking.

The CRM will be developed for Drupal 7 and, resources permitting, be backported to Drupal 6.

    The key issues for discussion:

    • Will DCRM use profile2 entities to represent contacts, and if so, what needs to be included?

    Reporting Drupal

    Steve Parks 11 August 2010
    Type:  BOF session

As the community grows it becomes more important to have curated sources of news and information - helping new and experienced users alike to keep up to date with what's important or interesting. This session is for people interested in journalism about Drupal, to look at how that kind of media can best work.

Drupal now has a rapidly growing global community, and seasoned professionals find it difficult to keep up with everything that's going on - let alone the daunted newbies that are just joining.

I believed it was time to have a curated source of independent journalism about Drupal and its community - so I set up Drupalradar a month ago to do this.

Since then I've been approached by lots of people who are also interested in this, so I agreed to setup a BoF for us all to get together to discuss it.

    The Design of HTML5

    Jeremy Keith 10 August 2010
    Type:  Session in official program

Everyone's talking about the benefits of HTML5 for web apps but the specification also introduces an extra layer of semantic richness to our web documents. These additions aren't wishful thinking for some far-flung future: you can start using them today. That's because the design principles driving HTML5 are steeped in pragmatism. Find out how important good design principles are to any project, whether it's a website, a content management system, or the very language that underpins the World Wide Web.
